What do you think is the basis of Japan's economic prosperity?

They take care of their middle cl, when they have economic hardships the people at the top take the hit instead of the middle and lower cl, because that is there customer base. They feel many people can buy more than just a few at the top, and the people at the top can take the hit more the people at the bottom can. They feel by securing the middle cl that it will strengthen their economy and their country. In Japan, a business owner's pride is how well he treats his employees. Which is the compete opposite in America, we tend more to take care of our CEO's and shareholders over the people and the country.
