Birth control help.........?

OK so I made an appointment to go to the health department to get free birth control. I live with my mom but I need something that will take care of my hormones. I also have irregular periods so I need something will take care of that. The thing is since I have insurance I have to pay full price. I don't have a lot of money tho and my mom is the only one that works I take care of my gma who has alzheimers'. MY question is, is there a birth control that will take care of hormones and irregular periods that's either over the counter or really cheap.
