How does a temporary protection order hearing work?

Usually at the beginning of the hearing, the judge will ask if you want to continue without the benefit of legal counsel. All you have to do is say no and the hearing will be continued until you can obtain a lawyer. If you want to handle it before then, call the Courthouse and ask how you would request a continuance.
